 A Sustainable   Phone Charger 

Energy from Human Movement: Portable Passive Charger

For this project I was a part of a team of four tasked with designing and building a device that generates a renewable energy source. Our team developed a model that used a pendulum to rotate a geared DC motor that gave charge to a lithium ion battery. Using SolidWorks we designed a protective body, pendulum, and battery clip for our device.

Using several diodes, a prototype PCB, and a soldering iron we constructed a rectifier to ensure that no matter which direction the pendulum rotated, the current being fed to the battery was always positive.


Our final project was accepted into the 2019 ASEE Zone 1 Conference in Niagara Falls where we presented our research poster to a panel of judges from several distinguished universities.
